Ishmael’s Sons^(A)

¹² This is the account^(B) of the family line of Abraham’s son Ishmael, whom Sarah’s slave, Hagar^(C) the Egyptian, bore to Abraham.^(D)

¹³ These are the names of the sons of Ishmael, listed in the order of their birth: Nebaioth^(E) the firstborn of Ishmael, Kedar,^(F) Adbeel, Mibsam, ¹⁴ Mishma, Dumah,^(G) Massa, ¹⁵ Hadad, Tema,^(H) Jetur,^(I) Naphish and Kedemah.

¹⁹ They waged war against the Hagrites, Jetur,^(A) Naphish and Nodab. ²⁰ They were helped^(B) in fighting them, and God delivered the Hagrites and all their allies into their hands, because they cried^(C) out to him during the battle. He answered their prayers, because they trusted^(D) in him. ²¹ They seized the livestock of the Hagrites—fifty thousand camels, two hundred fifty thousand sheep and two thousand donkeys. They also took one hundred thousand people captive, ²² and many others fell slain, because the battle^(E) was God’s. And they occupied the land until the exile.^(F)
